Aledo, Texas

Aledo TX Homes for Sale and Community Information

Aledo, Texas is a community with about 3,000 residents in the southeastern part of Parker County. It is situated a little south of the interstate Weatherford, the county seat, lies just to the west. To the east is the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

History

The arrival of the Texas and Pacific Railroad in 1880 connected Fort Worth and Weatherford. Settlers perviously scattered across the Clear Fork Valley tended to re-settle along the new rail line. A coal and water refueling station became the first stop in Parker County for trains heading to the west. This station was the precursor to what eventually became Aledo in 1882. The community gots its name only because the home town of one railroad official was Aledo, Illinois.

Parks and Recreation

With over 1,100-acres of surface area, Lake Weatherford offers area residents lots of recreational opportunities just to the north of Aledo. Fisherman can head out in search of crappies, largemouth bass and channel catfish. This reservoir supplies water to Fort Worth, about 19-miles to the east. Of course, boating, water skiing, jet skiing, sailing and kayaking are also enjoyed by many others.

Lost Creek offers a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life yet it is only 15-minutes from Fort Worth.
